“Sou Gong” with Ee Chinese Cuisine, Eastin Hotel PJ

I had an early “Sou Gong” dinner recently at Ee Chinese Cuisine, Eastin Hotel Petaling Jaya.

The first dish which is a must during Chinese New Year season is non other than tossing the yee sang as high as you can go.  Here in Ee Chinese Cuisine, we had the Salmon with Rice Crackers Yee Sang.  The Rice Crackers gave it an added “crackle” when you savour the yee sang.

all tossed up!!

When we were presented with this, it can easily passed off as a dessert! Delectable and lovely, ‘lil did I know that this is actually contains shark fins wrapped together with egg presented on superior broth.  If you think the broth is pumpkin, you are so wrong! hehehe…. The broth is actually made up of duck, chicken, pork and carrot.  The colour yellowish orange is actually from the carrot.  It’s creamy!

The Steamed Farm Chicken comes covered in a cover.  Once open, smoke rises out of it for the chicken is slightly smoked.  Have the chicken with the condiments, mashed ginger and soury spicy chili, it’s real appetizing.

What attracts me in this next dish besides those juicy plum prawns is the Bacon Roll.  Containing fish paste wrapped with bacon, it’s a truly melt in the mouth sensation with subtle flavour of sweet & sour due to vinegar.

I love sea cucumbers.  Give me sea cucumbers over abalone and I’ll choose sea cucumbers.  Beautifully presented, I had not one but two rolls of that dried oyster and sea cucumber :P

To end our hearty meal, we had rice in clay pot served with assorted waxed meat.  My usual fare is the waxed meat is put on top of the rice to cook in order for the flavour to drenched the rice.  Although this is separated, it does goes well with the rice.

It’s always good to end the meal with something sweet.  Here we had Sweetened Dried Longans, White Fungus with Snow Lotus Seeds.  Accompanying this is Chef’s Choice Dessert.

Looks like a big “ondeh-ondeh” to me.  It is actually nian gao wrapped with pumpkin.  Nian Gao a common and popular dessert during Chinese New Year symbolises oneself rising taller each year.
