Kleenex : Power of Scent

I love receiving surprise gifts. Who doesn’t right? Alas I don’t receive good surprises often enough so when this box came thru my door from Kleenex, I was a happy lady and couldn’t wait to open and see what it contains.

And it smell good! Yes, you read right. It gave out a good scent! :p

Came with a lovely bow tied to it

What a pleasant find. The first I noticed is that I receive a stem of rose made from tissue. As a craft lover, this is really interesting but I need to find where that lovely scent is coming from….

Aahh… this is the new range from Kleenex where tissues are scented. The two scents that is available now is Cherry Blossom and Rose Essential Oil.  As this is not my first time encountering scented tissues, I am glad that it is available now in Malaysia.

I remember lugging my packets of scented tissues from Hong Kong back home when I was on holiday. Yeah I bought tissues… who would have guessed that! Tissues instead of other souveniers LOL!!!
So back to this Kleenex new range of scented tissues. There’s research that supports the link between fragrance and well-being, as the sense of smell is one of the most direct ways people interact with their surroundings. Do you agree?

I agree for each time I stepped into a spa or a surrounding that has pleasant fragrance, I find that my mood and spirit is lifted up immediately. Even at home I on my diffuser to uplift everyone’s mood. Fragrance I find also gives a calming mood.

Floral scents in particular cultivate a happier, more optimistic outlook and this can have a positive effect on how people interact with others.  With Kleenex now introducing infused rose essential oils or cherry blossom fragrance into its first Kleenex 3-Ply Scented Facial Tissues, one can be sure that you will feel delighted and uplifted using it.

The good news is, you can request for a sample of this brand-new Kleenex 3-Ply Scented Tissues at http://powerofscent.kleenex.com.my. Besides that, join and share your uplifting messages on social media by using the hashtag #KleenexPowerofScent

What do you think you can do with scented tissues to uplift someone’s mood :

  1. Use it when you’re all tired. I’m sure it will give you an instant perk me up.
  2. Use it to cover your nose and inhale as you walk thru areas that you know has unpleasant smell or someone happened to let out a “whoosh” in the cinema seat next to you (wokay! too detailed but you get my drift…) How I wish I have this during the haze period. I would have use it to cover my nose when I walked to the car  park.
  3. DIY something out of it!

I created carnations out of it. Since the tissues are all white, I dab a bit of colour to it so that it stands out.  What do you think of my outcome?

I must say that I enjoyed how soft and lovely the fragrance is. It calmed me down when I wanted to separate the petals (plys) faster.  It is good that it came scented as crafting this became a calm affair!

Now don’t forget to go and get yourself a free sample and try out!

Mamil MomMe : Understand The Importance of Good Gut Health

Mommies, how do you know if your kids have good gut health?

I recently had a chance to listen to Dr. Chin Wai Seong, Consultant Paediatrian on this topic courtesy of Mamil in their #MamilMomMe event. It was an insightful afternoon for me although my youngest is already 6 years old.  I believe knowing this does not only affect kids but adults alike.

Ms Jane Ee, Marketing Manager of Danone Dumex (M) Sdn Bhd opened the event by welcoming all mothers gathered to learn about how the gut, also known as the digestive system, performs many important functions that are essential for a child to grow and develop well.

Dr. Chin Wai Seong then took to stage and said “Experts have been saying for years that the gut plays a role beyond the basic function of digesting and absorbing the food we eat. Recent research shows that good gut health also contributed towards a healthy immune system and emotional well-being.”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWhich type you think is the best stool?  You should aim to have Type 4 or 5.

Dr. Chin highlighted that :

  • Toddler >2 years old should have a normal bowel movement of 1-2 times per day.
  • Good gut health, with good intestinal environment, helps promote softer stools for easier bowel movement
  • The body’s immune system is also closely linked with gut health, as the gut contains 70% of the body’s immune cells, as such a healthy gut can help protect against infections too
  • A healthy gut and good intestinal environment supports optimal digestion and absorption of nutrients, which is particularly important for a child’s growth and development

Photo 3 It is important to maintain a healthy gut by :

  • eating more fruits and vegetables
  • drink more water
  • exercise regularly
  • consume foods with PREBIOTICS

Key benefits of a healthy gut :

  • Ensures proper digestion and absorption of nutrients that provide the building blocks that our body  needs to live, to function and to stay healthy
  • Healthy gut, healthy growth, happy child. A well nourished child with a healthy gut is able to play, learn, interact and explore necessary experiences for optimal brain development
  • Contributes to a stronger immune system 60-70% of the body’s immune cells are located in the gut.
  • Helps with a child’s cognitive, motor and socio-emotional development, which is essential for proper growth and development.

Mommies present had a Q&A session with Dr. Chin and thereafter a break-out session to exchange experience.

We were also treated to demonstration by Kiehl’s and Shu Uemura on the importance of skincare and personal appearance.

As we go thru the journey of motherhood, mothers tend to focus solely on their kids and ignore our ownself. It is equally important that as mothers we too take of ourself :)

Mamil as an expert in child nutrition, is proud to help mothers along their journey and through Mamil MomMe initiatives, Mamil hope to keep spreading awareness so that children can enjoy the benefits of good gut health. Mamil growing-up formulas contain an internationally-patented prebiotics oligosaccharide mixture GOS/IcFOS to support and help maintain a good intestinal environment. Those who wish to try Mamil products can sign up online for a 7-day trial packs.

PLAY-DOH Month 2015 Roadshow

Remember our previous post on Play-Doh? So yeah we joined the Play-Doh Roadshow in 1 Utama and had a blast!See how excited he is? After registration we were each given 5 tubs of play-doh. Choose our spot, settled down and started! On the table, there was a ruler to aid you in your sculpture and a few cards with sample and instructions on what to create.

Getting serious now. The boy busy opening all the tubs up first. Easy to access the doh…

One obligatory pose for me first before you start 😛

After going thru the samples provided, Caden decided to create a turtle.

As he was busy moulding, the mama (me!) was busy looking around. The crowd is really building up! Families with kids all enjoying sculpturing together. It was a great sight. Besides individual make-shift tables for us to sculptures, on-going were Play-Doh School where kids can learn how to make cupcakes and ice-creams with the Cupcake Celebration Playset and Swirl and Scoop Ice-Cream at the Sweet Shoppe! Back to our own sculptures, it’s shaping up nicely… Once this is completed, Caden decided to sculpture his own stuff.

He sculptured a robot and added finishing touches to it as his mind imagines it.  It’s a really good way for children to unleash their creativity.

In the end, he created not 1 but 4 to have each sculpture representing each one of us in the family.

The turtle and hornbill is following the sample and instructions provided. The robot and snowman are his own creation.

I still remember a remark made by the person manning the submission when we submitted our pieces, particularly the Hornbill. He said nice Penguin!!! hahahahaha…… and both of us said NOoooooooo, that’s a Hornbill!

So what’s your take, does it look like a Penguin to you??

And here’s a pic of us together. Love it! Thanks to the official photographer for capturing this <3 <3

This roadshow reached what’s it aimed for on that day ~ Most Number of Play-Doh Sculptures Created in an Event. A total of 1,899 sculptures!! Whoo-hoo and we are proud to have contributed 4 sculptures to it.
